Abstract

The cases of 39 diabetic patients with IDOM were studied. Depending on the findings of 24-hour proteinuria and of the clearance of endogenous creatinine the patients were divided into a group with nephropathy (n = 20) and a group without nephropathy (n=19) in order to see whether there was a difference between them in the concentrations of lipoproteins. In the group with nephropathy the concentration of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol was significantly lower than in the latter group (p<0,01). We did not find any significant differences in concentrations of total cholesterol, triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Analysing the whole group we came to conclusion that there is a positive correlation between the clearance of endogenous creatinine and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
