Abstract

Bariatric surgery is one of the most effective methods for treating patients with morbid obesity. Obese patients present challenge for the anaesthesiologist because of the various anatomic and physiological changes related to obesity and associated comorbid diseases. In this review we give a brief overview of current knowledge related to obesity and perioperative management of patients scheduled for bariatric surgery.
