Abstract
The author examines different approaches to the social work theorv in world literature. Particular criticism is directecl to the extremely eclectic approaches by the authors from Anglo-Saxon part of the worlcl. The author analyzes different and combined eclectic approaches thatalso restrain the clevelopment ofauthentic social work theory. The author’spreference is with the contribution oftheoreticians ofEuropean tradition and their ejfoi ts to develop authentic social work theory. This would represent a system ofideas in research and professional practice and would tfnis help to develop the identity of social workers.
