Abstract

As a part of the project GoSAFE RAIL, one working package is dedicated to the development of the integrated model of the railway network which will incorporate the data on infrastructural resources in order to enable the safe, reliable and efficient railway infrastructure. Using the mechanism for simulation of micro-levels OpenTrack enables the optimization of the capacity and maximum availability of the network. Until now the optimization was defined in advance by the users and it was tested, which led to the missed optimum solutions. This modelling tool will be able to dynamically optimize the operations, especially during the degraded operations, using the algorithms for optimization with multiple criteria for solution of complicated requests. Using the Kronecker algebra for optimization as well as the programme interface of application software (API) as a part of the study of the railway network Zagreb – Rijeka, the behaviour of the real flows of the network was simulated as the proof on the acceptability of the solutions given by the algorithm.
