Abstract

Aging has become a global phenomenon that
is caused by two factors: extended life expectancy and reduced
natality. This, of course, has caused a crisis in the public
pension system. However, in addition to demographic causes
that can be generalised, structural changes on the labour
market such as unemployment, „atypical employment“, changes
in the employment structure and dramatic warnings about the
“end of work” are the phenomena that cannot be generalised
and that seriously aggravate the pension system crisis. If we
put this phenomenon and the labour market restructuring in
the context of globalisation, which exerts a signifi cant pressure
on national economies, it becomes crystal clear that pension
system reforms are indispensable.

Keywords

pension reform; pension funds; older pensioners
