Abstract

The results of three years monitoring the appearance of Lampenflora in Veternica Cave, (Medvednica Nature Park) are presented in this article. The monitoring was conducted as a part of a subterranean fauna biomonitoring project. Lampenflora has demonstrated high invasion potential and due to the increase of cave fauna on its overgrowths, the removal of Lampenflora was conducted according to expert recommendations, which were one of the results of the monitoring. This biological monitoring presents an example of good cooperation between the public institution in charge of the cave and experts working on subterranean ecosystems and their protection.
