Abstract

The study is a part of the wider conceived philosophical study of war as a "phenomenon" which follows man through his history as a destiny, and also the attempt to comprehend the possibilities and reality of contemporary "technological era". Starting with the relevant philosophers, from Aristotle to C. Schmitt, this work is attempt to see war as a philosophical theme through philosophical disciplines, from economy to religion. Besides economic and political, the special emphasize has been put on philosophical research of cultural or spiritual fundamentals of war. That is the reason why the theological fundamentals of war, from exegesis of some Biblical standpoints to thinking of the great theologians of the Middle Ages, have been addressed at the end of the study.
In this way, there is an open possibility for the continuation of the study by addressing philosophical fundamentals of the contemporary political war theories, spiritual and national roots of the war and liberal-pacifist theories. It is certain that such research must take into consideration all changes that occurred in the very essence of the war, caused by a shift toward technological perfection, the war reality becoming virtual and bringing closer of the pacifist and the bellicose discourse.
