Abstract

The paper contains an analysis of the components of local self-government
in Poland: territorial structure (with an overview of self-government
below municipal level and special status of Warsaw), local affairs, local
politics (local bodies and institutions of direct democracy), cooperation
between territorial units, central-local relations, and the financing of local
self-government. Each component has been dealt with separately. Special
