Abstract

Acute infections of the lower respiratory tract
appear as three main clinical entities: acute bronchitis, exacerbation
of chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD) and
pneumonia. In the paper are presented treatment procedures
of these entities, with the accent on pneumonias. Pneumonias
in otherwise healthy subjects and in patients with chronics
diseases are investigated. Within these types of pneumonia
is included aspirational pneumonia as well. Further are
described pneumonias that develop during hospitalization,
classified according to carrier, duration of treatment and the
occurrence of potential comlications.
