Abstract

The quality of recent relative height movement kinematic model of the Earth’s crust for the territory of Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the period from 1874 to 1973, is assessed and analysed on the territory of Istria peninsula. An indirect method of quality assessment is used. This method is based on a comparison of accuracy criteria of original levelling measurements (precise levelling and measurings of First High Accuracy Levelling Network) and these measurements corrected or reduced for the systematic effect of Earth’s crust height motion. On the part of 1st levelling polygon of Second High Accuracy Levelling Network (IINVT) that covers the area of Istria peninsula levelling lines height differences were reduced from their original survey epochs to the mean survey epoch of IINVT using the kinematic model. „A priori“ and „a posteriori“ measurement accuracy criteria are calculated, compared and analysed. The results show that reductions leads to a moderate increase in accuracy compared to original measurements accuracy. It confers that the height movement kinematic model contributed to removing of the systematic effect of Earth’s crust height motion which is included in the levelling measurements.
