Abstract

In this study, we investigated the effects of continuous education on the mortality and number of emergency interventions at the Nursing Home. The additional goal was to determine nurses’ and caregivers’ satisfaction, regarding education. The outcome measures were: the number of interventions of the emergency team and the mortality rates in Nursing Home from 2008 to 2010 (first time point) and from 2010 to 2015 (second time point). We measured educational satisfaction by the Satisfaction evaluation questionnaires with nurses’/caregivers’ education. The results indicated that, after the implementation of new knowledge and skills, a reduced mortality rate of 53% and a reduction of 24.1% emergency interventions were established. The largest number of nurses (95%) and caregivers (95.7%) were satisfied with the acquired knowledge and skills during education and these two groups did not differ in the degree of satisfaction (z = 1.4, p > 0.05).
