Abstract

Multiple myeloma is a neoplasm characterized by excessive proliferation of the plasma cells, secreting abnormal immunoglobulin causing monoclonal gammopathy and it is characterised by the presence of M protein in serum and urine. Electrophoresis of serum protein is an easy laboratory test which can be used for detection and quantification of monoclonal gammopathy and should be used as a preliminary test for detecting multiple myeloma. In this paper we described key issues in the care of patients with multiple myeloma. Using the case report, we showed the pathophysiology, clinical picture, diagnostic procedures and treatment of patients with multiple myeloma.
