Abstract

On occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of continuous
publication of one of the most prominent historical
journals, the author analyses the development of Croatian
historiography in that period, with a special emphasis on
the problem of dependence of historiography on politics
and ideology. Commencing from the division of topics
suggested by the journal's first editorial board to "national history", "historiography" and "socialist topics", the author
has applied statistical analysis of articles published in the
journal and based on their numerical appearance has
offered a graphic image of the journal. The author also
made an attempt to place the published articles from the
journal into political events and a broader historiographical
context and to carry out an analysis of how topics and
articles in the journal depended on the ideological pressures
and political expectations.
