Abstract

It is always relevant to think and discuss about parish catechesis and catechism in primary and secondary schools. Parish catechesis and school catechism are two complementary realities of a single religious education. These two complementary realities are meant to educate human beings in all their dimensions, especially in the religious dimension. This article seeks to point to the reality and the realization of catechesis in parish communities and of catechism in primary and secondary schools, as well as to present the expectations of these two forms of religious education. This is to emphasize their important role and place in the life of the Church and in the society of the Republic of Croatia. It should, therefore, not be distinguished between those responsible and not responsible for the (non-)success of parish catechesis and school catechism. Each member of Jesus’ community - the Church - carries a responsibility for the (non-)success of religious education in a certain time at a certain place.
