Abstract

The article emphasizes the necessity of creating parish structures based on new theological insights and sociological assumptions, in which the reality of the Church as communion and mission could be incarnated. Referring to the teaching of John Paul II, Benedict XVI and pope Francis, the author emphasizes that it is of fundamental importance to finally let live the spirit of the Second Vatican Council, especially in the form of co-responsible fraternity, communion and mission. He emphasizes the need for consciousness of mission aiming towards the proclamation and the transmission of faith, all the way to the missionary turnaround of the pastoral work. The author offers several ‘operational models’ of a new figure of the believer and of the parish community. Time has arrived to increase the ‘missionary tension’ in relation to those who are distant and indifferent.
