Abstract

Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a global health problem and one of the most common reasons to visit a family doctor. The impact of AR symptoms on all segments of life emphasizes the importance of this disease as a public health problem. Adequate therapeutic selection is an important task in the daily work of family practitioners.
According to ARIA (Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma) guidelines, treatment of rhinitis is carried out at four levels depending on the type and severity of the disease: patient education, environmental control, pharmacotherapy and immunotherapy.
Treatment with pharmacotherapeutic intranasal corticosteroids is the leading therapy of AR because they are the only drug effective in all nasal symptoms.
