Abstract

The majority of Bunić's poems his canzoniere »Plandovanja« are written
in either octosyllabic or in decasyllabic lines. Ten of the poems are, however, written in non-isometric stanzas with very variable metrical and line patterns. Although all of these patterns exist in the repertoire of Croatian Petrarchist and folk poetry, the manner in which Bunić connects these four-syllable, five-syllable, six-syllable eight-syllable, ten-syllable and twelve-syllable lines into stanzas was new in the 17& century Croatian poetry. Bunić's stanziac solutions may have been influenced by the similiar models found in contemporary
Italian poetry, particularly the poetry of G. Chiabrera, whose combinations of the verse lines of Italian popular and folk poetry were modelled on the French Pléiade.
