Abstract

The press in the 19th century was the most important mass medium, and it was directed to social and professional groups. The development of press in Bosnia and Herzegovina is related to the period of Austro-Hungarian administration (1878-1918), when a number of periodicals started to be published. In those journals dedicated to literature and culture a lot of articles were dedicated to Polish literature and Polish authors: Adam Mickiewicz, Henryk Sienkiewicz, Bolesław Prus. The biggest influence on the promotion of Polish culture came from Polish immigrants, who settled in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Austrian government. This article will present the most important periodicals that were dealing with Polish topics and show the contribution of the Polish people to the promotion of Polish literature in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
