Abstract
Depression is a very frequent disease that
can be serious, and sometimes can even endanger the
patient's life. Thanks to the increase of new antidepressants
within the last 15 years, the possibilities of pharmacological
treatment of depression are broadened. Selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) are today the drugs of
first choice in treating depression (1). The aims of this
review are to present similarities and differences among
SSRIs that can be of clinical importance, and to discuss the
latest data about this group of medications.
