Abstract

The work of the Rijeka school of philology stemmed from the work of its founder and most consistent follower, Fran Kurelac. The paper analysed Kure- lac’s theory of standardology, which influenced the modern view of the Croatian standard language. It particularly applied to Kurelac’s idea that the Croatian literary language was based on three principal dialects.
