Abstract

Digital transformation is a process influencing all of the areas of the modern economy. New, digitalised firms emerge while existing ones have to adapt to the new environment. Crucial adjustment factor to the new circumstances are individuals with their knowledge and skills, especially digital skills. In that context, digital skills improvement and re-skilling the workforce becomes a priority and challenge for every country. The aim of this paper is to analyse the situation in the Croatian labour market and to establish has the Croatian labour force been equipped with the set of skills matching the future labour market requirements of the digital era. Digital environment emerges new sectors; new digital jobs destroy old ones due to automation and robotisation, and in that context, birth and death rates of the firms, as well as employment in the Croatian ICT sector are analysed. Furthermore, the analysis of the level of digital skills is done with the comparison to the situation in the Central and East European countries.
