Abstract

On 27 December 2017, a male specimen of Cirl Bunting was observed in agricultural field near the town of Đakovo in East Slavonia. This is the first known occurrence of the species in the lowland part of eastern Croatia. Cirl Bunting is a common resident breeder of the Mediterranean part of Croatia, and a sporadic breeding species in north-western hilly areas in the continental part of the country. Few recent data from the hills of eastern Slavonia suggest that the species might breed here as well.
