Abstract
The aim of this short note was to determine the date of laying and reproductive output of Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) in relation to two types of nestbox position. Nestboxes were installed on a single tree each, at a height of 4.0 to 4.5 m (“high” position), and 2.0 to 2.5 m (“low” position). Analyses of laying date, number of eggs, hatching and
fledging success have shown that there are no significant differences in these parameters between “high” and “low” position nestboxes in north-western Croatia (all p > 0.05, t-test).
