Abstract
Anknüpfend an die Kontroverse, die um 1930 zwischen André Breton und Georges Bataille über den Stellenwert des Unflätigen im Denken und Schreiben geführt wurde, diskutiert der Aufsatz zum einen deren theoretischen Einsatz, indem er die Geschichte der Auseinandersetzungen von philosophischer wie psychoanalytischer Seite mit dem einschlägig notorischen Werk des Marquis de Sade beleuchtet. Zum anderen zeigt er unter Verweis auf ausgewählte Beispiele der deutschsprachigen Literatur seit 1945 (darunter Günter Eich, Werner Kofler und, wenn auch gleichsam ex negativo, Peter Handke) die ungebrochene – wiewohl unterschätzte – literaturtheoretische Relevanz dieses 'skatontologischen' Diskurses auf. // Continuing the controversial debate concerning the status of the obscene in thought and writing, led in the 1930s by André Breton and Georges Bataille, the article on the one hand discusses their theoretical contribution by retracing the history of examining the initially notorious work by Marquis de Sade from both the philosophical and psychoanalytical point of view. On the other hand, by referring to examples chosen from German literature after 1945 (the works by Günter Eich, Werner Kofler and, even if only ex negativo, Peter Handke) the article also shows the undiminished, although underappreciated, relevance of the 'scaonotological' discourse for literary theory.
