Abstract

Nowadays with advance development of software packages for the form-finding of membrane structures, architects more often decide for this type of structures. Its unusual form provides architects countless innovative solutions and today they are one of the most desirable structures. Nevertheless, they are also the most complicated structures for design and construction. The membrane structures have surfaces with the minimum potential energy, which demands special software for form-finding. These programs are for the designers who do not deal with these structures on a regular basis very expensive. The paper presents a simple engineering procedure of membrane form-finding with a temperature load. For form-finding represented in the paper COSMOS / M 2008 software package was used
