Abstract
The article describes the application of social networks in educational programming in higher education. The online workshops presented and communicated to the students through Facebook will provide the basic knowledge of the software packages Matlab , Julia and R; enabling students to design independently solution procedures for several typical sample problems and to write these procedures down as user-defined routines to be run by the software packages.With a closed Facebook group, as an informal means of communication and studying, students will be able to become familiar with the structure of the command language and objects used by these packages, in order to be able to solve various computational standard problems, which frequently occur in scientific as well as engineering applications.
In addition, online communication will be in English in order for Erasmus exchange students to also be able to participate.
