Abstract

On the basis of examination of a dog, it was found that the dog suffered from neurological manifestations in the form of a changeable behaviour - from timidity to groundless aggression. Clinical and laboratory reports failed to find the cause of the neurological manifestation, although it is known that hypo function of the thyroid gland may be the cause. This paper describes the neurological manifestations determined. Diagnostic therapy was applied to verify this whereby levothyroxine sodium was applied. After application of levothyroxine sodium, the previous neurological manifestations in the dog were lost. This proves that the neurological manifestations in the patient were caused by hypothyroidism. The result of this procedure proved that neurological manifestations in dogs may be suppressed and controlled by the application of an adequate remedy.
