Abstract

Gout is disease characterized by the pathological mineralization of synovial and serosal surfaces. It occurs in humans, birds and reptiles. The cause of this condition is a purine metabolism disorder with consequent deposition of urate crystals in the tissue. In this article the macroscopical and histopathological signs of articular and visceral gout diagnosed in reptile, genus Phelsuma, from Zagreb Zoo are presented.
