Abstract

In 2017 and 2018, the Institute of Archaeology continued the systematic archaeological excavations on the Kalnik – Igrišče site. Under the archaeological records indicating metallurgical activities in the area during the late Ha B phase according to relative chronology, the excavations uncovered a collapsed multi-layered older structure of a residential/work nature, which has been dated also to the Ha B phase. Moreover, the research revealed the remains of a structure from the transition phase of Ha A to Ha B phase, which was largely damaged by building interventions from the earlier phase of the Urnfield culture. From the archaeological aspect, a strong continuity of life in the Late Bronze Age has been identified; the character of the finds and the changes in the mode of the site usage indicate dynamic social/economic changes.
