Abstract

Border region represents unstable part of almost every country in the world. Their strategic position in preserving the identity of the country is rising, especially in recent times with free movement of people, informations and services. It is necessary to provide a chance of preserving their identity in which the main role has local population. Therefore, border administrative units have been classified in four classes by their cumulative change of birthrate, fertile women percentage and age coefficient where every class describes a chance of the unit in natural repopulation. In the end, the demographic processes have been related to dispersion of settlements structure and geomorphological characteristics of the administrative units.
