Analysis of Location Potential for Construction of Logistic Centre in Northwest Croatia

Abstract

Logistic centres represent one of the most important parts of logistic network. Implementation of commodity routes is unthinkable without a logistic centre, regardless whether it is related to urban, national or global area. Selection of optimal location for logistic centre is a very complex process which needs to include a large number of factors which can influence success of business activity. Location of logistic centre has direct impact on the cost of storage and transport, which to a large extent affects business activity of a company. Optimal location ensures quality of distribution services at minimal costs. The paper analyses factors that influence the selection of location for construction of logistic centre and gives proposition for location in case of the need to construct a logistic centre in Northwest Croatia based on three arbitrarily selected and analysed locations. Location is of critical strategic importance for a company and profitability of the future business activity to a large extent depends on selection of location. This is why the interest was directed towards potential for construction of logistic centre hidden in Northwest Croatia.
