Abstract

Two groups of procedures for assessment of reliability of the composite measuring were proposed. In the first group the error variance of each item was defined as the unique variance of that item, assessed on the basis of the system of the remaining items. In the second group the error variance of each item was defined on the basis of a uni-factor canonic model.
The total variance of a test defined as the variance of the first principal component of the normalized and standardized items, or as the variance of the first principal component of items re-scaled on the generalized anti-image metrics. The true variance of a test was defined (a) as the first characteristics value of the reduced intercorrelation matrix, (b) as the first characteristic value of the reduced intercorrelation matrix re-scaled on the anti-image metrics, (c) as variance of the first canonic factor and (d)as variance of the first canonic factor in the anti-image metrics.
