Abstract
The analysis of the criteria for the determination of the number of significant components defined by the smallest number of roots necessary to obtain the sum of the coefficients of the variables determination in a common space proved a reasonable procedure, very often superior to the criterion based on the magnitude of the characteristic roots. The proposed criterion may be considered worth investigating in greater detail.
