Abstract

Powdery mildew is recorded in almost all areas where cucurbits are grown. In Croatia, powdery mildew of cucurbits is caused by two fungi - Golovinomyces cichoracearum and Podosphaera fuliginea. Disease symptoms, biology, environmental conditions for growth and development of each pathogen are briefly discussed. Active substances of fungicides registered in Croatia for use against powdery mildew of cucurbits are listed. Additionally, based on the FRAC, and by following the MOA code, the alternating usage of active substances from different chemical groups is recommended, in order to avoid the emergence of pathogen resistance. In conclusion, several fungicides for biocontrol uses are listed.
