HISTORY OF PHYTOTHERAPY IN GYNECOLOGY – SHORT ANNOTATION

Abstract
Numerous pieces of evidence from today's scientifi c medicine have indicated that there are already known medicinal effects of various herbs, especially the phytohormonal effect on gynecologic functional disorders (e.g., climacteric, premenstrual syndrome, dysmenorrhea). Medicinal plants that have been used in gynecology for centuries down to the present, now based on scientifi c evidence are cinnamon, wild wormwood, thyme, yarrow, angelica, primrose, basil, vitex (chaste tree), fl ax, Cimicifuga racemosa, rosemary, chamomile, melissa, mint, sage and red clover.
