Abstract

On the basis of analysis of teaching programmes, curricula and related documents in education, the paper points to the importance of the high school subject Visual Arts for the formation and structuring of arts education within the Croatian grammar school system. The author also
discusses the contribution of art historians in the promotion of arts in education and in finding ways of integration and correlation of art topics
with other fields of education.
