Abstract
Strong development of information and communications technologies caused changing of the role of university libraries within the academic community whereby the focus is shifted from collecting and processing library materials to users and their increasingly complex requirements. Unfavourable economic environment in which higher education libraries now operate, which causes insufficient financing in various business segments may cause insufficient fulfilment of users’ needs. One of the possible solutions of these problems is the mutual cooperation between university libraries, which has so far been more personal and less systematic and organized. Co-operation can be achieved by implementing various programs and projects related to the acquisition and processing of library materials, as well as the provision of information services to users and their education.
