Abstract

Kunić family can be traced to the village of Ošlje in Dubrovačko primorje where it was first mentioned in the 16th century. Stjepan Kunić from Ošlje, the father of Stjepan-Rajmund, was to render service to Ruđer Draghi, his kin and merchant from Novi Pazar in 1705. Somewhat later he worked for his brother-in-law Ruđer Bošković. By 1718, Stjepan settled in Dubrovnik and married Margarita, daughter of Mato Gallani (Jelić), presumably the niece of Rajmund Gallani, the archbishop of Dubrovnik. Stjepan-Rajmund Kunić was their eldest son (born Jan 24 1719 in Dubrovnik, died Nov 22 1794 in Rome).
