Abstract

This paper analyses different modalities of sexual and gender diversity mediation through
physical environment. In the first part of the paper the terminological framework is discussed
through the concepts of geography of education and sexual and gender diversity. The second part
locates sexuality and gender in the context of educational institution and analyses different
aspects of their spatialization, emphasizing the ground plan and material arrangements of educational
institutions, and the materials used in pedagogical interactions. The concluding part
of the paper addresses further possibilities of researching this topic.
