Abstract

In environment impact assessment procedures in Republic of Croatia there is noticeable absence of analysis of abiotic part of nature. Abiotic part of environment comprises geological, geomorphological and pedological features of certain area. The aim of this research is to emphasise the role of geodiversity and geoecological evaluation in the analysis of the possible impact on the environment on the example of accumulation lake Kosinj.
With the selected methods of cabinet and field work which include geomorphological analysis, relative relief evaluation method and application of GIS tools, the intrinsic value of the relief was quantified, ie the geodiversity of the observed area. The results of these analyses are the basis for the interpretation of geodiversity as one of the components of the environment and the assessment of the impact on geodiversity and the prescribing of adequate mitigation measures.
