Abstract

In the last few years, hazelnut trees have been increasingly grown in the Republic of Croatia, with a large number of producers who are deciding to grow this crop in an ecological production. Hazel is considered a less demanding crop from the point of view of the protection against harmful organisms, however, in the past few years, various diseases have been observed more often in hazelnut plantations, sometimes at a higher intensity. Botrytis cinerea, Monilinia fructigena, Nematospora coryli have been reported to cause fungal diseases on hazelnut fruits. Root rot caused by the fungus Armillaria mellea was also found. The article briefly describes the symptoms of some hazel diseases and the possibilities of protection.
