Abstract

The decomposition of sodium aluminate solutions by seeding with hydrargillite-crystals occurs simultaneously in three defferent ways by: (a) crystal-growth, (b) formation of firm-binded-agglomerates (intercrystallization) and (c) creation of new crystallites. By the experimental technic applied only the predominations of (b) or (c) are proved, but not their relative intensities. The last two mechanisms are exclusively characteristic for the particlesize-range < 20 microns (especially for the particles ~ 10 microns). The way of the acting of the seed depends on the absolute amount as well as on its size distribution.
