Abstract

When Hina was founded, the reactions of us, journalists, were triple. First we
were relieved because we got our own news agency, than we were not satisfied
because we thought we are getting not enough information, and then we became
grateful because Hina’s materials were a guide to us in the age of media and public
manipulation.
Hina became unavoidable. The choice of information keeps growing because
of Hina’s cooperation with other agencies, there are more services to use, more
channels of distribution, better links and cooperation.
But, the question today is: is the agency becoming a threat to the media? Certainly,
yes, but we have to be wise and create enough space for everyone. Since
there is nothing older than the news we red yesterday, the printed media will have
to modify their approach and find a new way and attractive design to promote it.
Agencies will always cover important event on the national and international
level, because they have the people and the equipment to respond to the tasks. The
newspapers will have to, in order to keep their readers, turn to the local contents.
Agencies, Hina also, will keep their role in the media. The adjustments have to
start today. Media houses are becoming multimedia (newspapers, online, TV, radio
...), and agencies as well (text, photographs, audio i video ...) are spreading
their distribution channels. Hina and the Croatian publishers must do the same.
