Abstract

The workers’ movement in the wider Drniš area has so far not been more systematically described and presented to the public. This work gives a chronology of the origin and development of this movement, mainly from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the Second World War. The focus is on trade union organization, ups and downs in the work of trade unions, descriptions of strikes and other forms of struggle for the material
and social position of miners, because the proletariat did not exist outside coal mines until the First World War, and then in bauxite
mines.
