Abstract

The remarkable monument known as the city walls of Pula has
been an active part of the city from the ancient period in which
it was erected until today. With only two sections remaining, its
appearance today cannot fully convey the importance and defensive
purpose the monument once had. For the purpose of this review,
multiple records mentioning the walls have been collected. All
of the archaeological excavations involving the walls and the
interventions that impacted their appearance are here composed.
And finally, the existing walls are presented through all the
historical events that shaped the monument that we see today.
