Abstract
Open space fires and forest fires are a key destabilizing factor for forest ecosystems. The behavior and dynamics of fires depend on a number of biotic and abiotic factors. Therefore, it is necessary to know and investigate certain elements in the classification of forest fires separately. Of course, understanding fire behavior and predicting is crucial in fire protection. The paper also points out the legislation that especially refers to one extremely important segment, and that is the openness of forests. It is an important tool for managing fire situations, faster arrival at fires, fire fighting and reducing forest areas affected by fire.
