Abstract
The study was carried out on a sample of 216 female industrial workers with the aim to establish the representative values of manifest indicators and latent space of the status, all of which should make possible as easier planning and carrying out of preventive sport and medical measure and procedures within the primary medical care of the working population.
The psychosomatic status was assessed on the basis of results of 18 measures.
The analysis of the manifest indicators of psychosomatic status showed that overweight was characteristic of the sample. The ventilatory abilities of the subjects corresponded to physiological norms of an identical segment of Yugoslav population as much as the indicators of the arterial blood pressure. The neuromuscular reactibility, dynamogenic ability and aerobic energy capacity were significantly under the expected level. A high degree of neurotic disturbances was found within the framework of the psychic status.
Factorial analysis offered an insight into the latent structure of the psychosomatic status isolating three significant factors. The first factor included those characteristics whose background was the intensity of emission of nervous impulses (reactibility of the neuromuscular system). The second one referred to the cardio-pulmonary energy ability while the thid one implicated the characteristics of the studied psychosomatic status dependent on the body mass, particularly the arterial blood pressure.
The results presented in this work was to confirm and corroborate the view that the diagnostic and preventive sports and medical procedures can significantly contribute to the analytical assessment of the health status of a given population as well as offer directions in choosing and carrying out the primary and secondary care and health improvement, of functional and working abilities by using the means from the indicatory area of sports, i. e. kinesiological medicine.
