Abstract

The objective of this work was to establish a new test needed for the evaluation of space and time orientation of wrestlers. The research was conducted on 240 top level wrestlers and 104 junior wrestlers. The model of the test that we have suggested consisted of defining the maximum period throughout which the body can maintain balance while the wrestler is in toe stand, his feet close together, the head in arch till put back into upright position, holding arms downwards (NNG). The test has been carried out by the wrestlers, with and without visual control. The results have been given in seconds. The results of the metric standardization of tests certify their genuinity, which makes it possible for this test to be widely used in practice. Comparative norms have been worked out in order to establish the level of space and time orientation of wrestlers that have different achievements during competitions. We have also shown that the NNG test clearly reflects the changes of this ability when being under pressure because of the training or competition. The increase of the time spent in the balance position while undergoing the NNGtest is considered to be an acceptable co-ordination occurrence.
