Abstract

The authors make a comparative analysis of the emergency measures introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic that have affected international police and judicial cooperation. The article analyses the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights in proceedings caused by the extraordinary circumstances, indicating possible future court decisions that will follow in proceedings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the difficulties of law enforcement agencies during the COVID-19 pandemic are analysed by elaborating the practical implementation of police and judicial cooperation instruments at the EU level. The paper offers perspectives for future collaboration that could be affirmed during and immediately after the pandemic.
