Abstract

On the sample of 17 to 29-year-old 27 top karatekas in Croatia, holders of brown and black belts, we have applied eight specially designed situation-related motor tests in order to define their metric features. Six tests had satisfactory metric features, and they measured specific co-ordination, speed, explosive strength and flexibility. The tests used for the control of specific accuracy have not shown satisfactory features. The following tests have proved to have the largest value for predicting success in a karate fight: karate-chart, karate leg kicks, karate hand kicks, and mawashi geri kicks into the boxing sack.
